Your high-school student can help build the next generation of FYS players!
We need high-school students to volunteer on Saturday mornings with our in-town program for players in pre-k through grade 2. The program runs from April 9 through June 11. Any make-up sessions will be held on Sundays at the same time.
WHY SHOULD YOUR HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENT VOLUNTEER?
- It's fun! And they'll be building the next generation of FYS players!
- Your volunteer will be a hero to the little ones! You know how much little kids adore older kids, don't you?
- Meaningful community service for college applications (and personal satisfaction).
- FYS Scholarship Eligibillity for GHS Students
WHEN WE NEED HELP
We know that high-school students are very busy, so they don't necessarily need to volunteer for every session -- but we hope they will!
IN-TOWN PROGRAM DATES:
April 9 through June 11 (No in-town soccer on April 16 or May 28)
IN-TOWN PROGRAM TIMES:
WHEN WE NEED HELP We know that high-school students are very busy, so they don't necessarily need to volunteer for every session -- but we hope they will!
- 9 to 10:15 a.m. -- G2 (Grades 1 and 2)
- 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. -- PK Li'l Strikers (4-years-old and up):

WHAT THEY'LL BE DOING
Our high-school volunteers act as assistant coaches, helping our activity leaders (which is what we call our in-town coaches) foster a passion for soccer in the players. If a team is without an activity leader on a given day, a volunteer might be asked to sub as the team's activity leader.
Our Saturday in-town sessions start with soccer activities that allow the players to aquire skills while having fun (they don't even realize they're learining!) and end with a scrimmage.
The activity leader may ask for help setting up and breaking down cones and nets or shagging balls. They may ask the volunteer to get on the field to engage with shy players -- or to engage with the stronger players so the weaker players have more time on the ball.
